A journey to the most hopeful places on earth
text: Theo Paijmans
Enormous and perilous — Earth is a place of wonder that challenges the most adventurous of us to explore its versatile landscape. With his unerring eye for architecture and the way people live with it, Iwan Baan photographs his way through the world. For See All This, he curated a guide to the 30 most hopeful places on earth. Through his lens, you’re invited to discover the most exceptional places on our planet, such as Mumbai Studio in Mumbai.

India > Mumbai > Studio Mumbai
Founded by architect Bijoy Jain in 2005, Studio Mumbai’s work explores the boundaries between art, architecture and the material world. His studio operates as an interdisciplinary group of architects, engineers, master builders, artisans, technicians and artists between India, Japan and Europe. The collective is involved in the research and development of projects using processes and time as an integral part of their expression and with water, air and light as the basis. Jain explains this over the phone from his Mumbai home. The idea of ‘Man in nature – nature in man, is about tuning in, being in contact with people and things, the environment at large, it is an energy field that allows us to exchange, and resonate between diverse entities.’
