The Early Van Gogh

| 24/09/2016 - 09/04/2017

The exhibition The Early Van Gogh focuses on the early years of Vincent van Gogh’s career, when he worked in The Hague and Nuenen.

The emphasis is placed on drawings from this Dutch period. They show how Van Gogh struggled to master the technique and to convey volume and movement in his figures. He experiments with different materials and techniques.

For this exhibition, the Kröller-Müller Museum draws on its extensive Van Gogh collection, which includes over 180 works on paper. In addition to this presentation, world-famous later paintings such as Terrace of a café and Bridge at Arles are also on display.
