Rembrandt the Etcher

Besides an oeuvre of paintings and drawings, Rembrandt van Rijn made about 314 prints, because of which he was considered a great etching artist.

The Rembrandt House Museum owns almost the entire collection of Rembrandt’s etchings. The current collection gives a fairly accurate overview of his graphic work and besides, the museum owns four of Rembrandt’s original etching plates.The museum has a permanent display of a selection of the collection.
