The new Outsider Art Museum is showing a comprehensive collection of Outsider Art, made possible by a collaboration between museum Het Dolhuys in Haarlem, care organization Cordaan and the Hermitage Amsterdam. A space has been created inside the Hermitage Amsterdam for an Outsider Art Gallery, an art library and two studios for Cordaan’s artists, to improve the recognition of artists with disabilities.
Outsider Art is compiled of people who didn’t get their education in art academies. The new museum focuses on contemporary Outsider Art that the growing collection of Het Dolhuys is comprised of. It contains hundreds of works by dozens of English, French, Iranian, Japanese and Dutch artists.
