For the first time in history, the Van Gogh Museum devotes an exhibition to the mental instability of Vincent van Gogh. The cut-off ear, the psychic condition and the circumstances of his suicide continuously raised the discussion and defined the myth surrounding Van Gogh.
The exhibition shines new light on Van Gogh’s disease and its influence on his work, through paintings, drawings, letters and rarely shown documents. The many diagnoses of his disease will be reviewed too.
