After being inspired by other artists, English artist Jesse Wine (1983) likes to start working in his own particular way. The installation Young Man Red recalls Alexander Calder’s mobiles, but also Karel Appel and De Stijl (The Style).
Just like other contemporary artists, Wine chooses to work with ceramics techniques. He uses them to express emotions. “Because”, so he claims, “in ceramics you often literally find the hand of the artist.” He looks for the possibilities of clay. Not to create utensils, but to claim a space within contemporary art.
