Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is showing both recent and earlier work by Jan van de Pavert (Zeist 1960). Using objects and models, Van de Pavert explores the role that architecture could play in a new social structure.
The emphasis is on a series of models that look like prototypes for design objects. Materials like plaster and plastic together with their round shapes and clean-cut lines, give them an utopian feel. It’s not about their functionality, but about the potential that they create for the future.
Van de Pavert uses his work to build upon the idealistic fundament of modernism and the progressive sixties.
