Flattering Brushstroke

Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar presents a monographic exhibition on the Alkmaar-based master of Classicism: Caesar van Everdingen.

In 2016-2017, 400 years after his birth, his work – including never before shown items from private collections – will be brought together in the city the master was raised in, accordingly the place of his death.

For the occasion of the exhibition, the pièces de resistance of Caesar’s Alkmaar works are being restored and investigated. The results will be presented in the exhibition and accompanying catalogue.
