The Frans Hals Museum is showing 17th century Dutch masters from the Szépmüvészeti Múzeum’s collection in Boedapest. Artists from Haarlem are shown in contrast to famous Dutch and Flemish painters, like Hendrick Avercamp, Jan Lievens and Anthonie van Dyck.
For the occasion of the 350th year of Frans Hals’ death in 2016, two portraits of his from Boedapest are united with his paintings in the Frans Hals Museum.
The exposition includes several artists from Haarlem that are not represented by the collection of the Frans Hals Museum, such as Willem Buytewech and Dirck Bleker. Apart from about 55 paintings, drawings by renowned artists such as Karel van Mander, Frans Post and Rembrandt are on display.
