For this exhibition, Raquel Maulwurf (1975, Madrid, Spain) made several new large format drawings in the series Colliding Galaxies, Black Sea and Into the Trees, that show her fascination for destruction and the apocalyptic landscape and how this combines nicely with the work of Zhivago Duncan.
Her monumental charcoal drawings show the chaos of the world, that the destructive power of nature and mankind brought about. Those images of destruction are constructed in such a way that only the crux of the event remains. The drawings no longer show what we see, but what we know. Topical events are made tangible and the central question is why mankind destroys its own environment.
