The Chinese artist Dan Zhu (1985) creates refined drawings, paintings, and murals. Her work reveals a world in which the personal and the universal constantly intersect. Family, childhood memories, and inner landscapes get as much attention as the mysterious vitality of nature.
In All Ends Meet, Zhu presents new works created during her stay as an artist-in-residence in Bergen. She will also produce a large mural that transforms the space into an organic whole, in which every ending carries the seed of a new beginning. Zhu’s artistic practice is influenced, among others, by the ideas on time and consciousness of the French philosopher Henri Bergson (1859-1941); Bergson understood time and duration not in terms of clock time, but as a continuous and uninterrupted flow of consciousness in which past, present, and future converge.
