Pretty Brilliant Women in the Arts Vol. III is the third and final volume in a labour of love, a re-inscription of the historical slate, and over half a decade’s work focussed on elevating the magnificent work of women artists. A more appropriate theme for this keystone issue could not be possible: Goddesses. Because just like deities, women artists have always been – and always will be – omnipresent. Leading the way through this issue are six divine figures spanning eras, cultures, and expectations, representing the hunt, the moon, fertility, sexuality, beauty, water, time, death, creation, destruction, the earth, the night.

Women have made art throughout a history that did not ask anything of them and certainly did not reward them. Yet they oversaw creation in its purest form, for no other reason than to express, to share and to recount the joy, pain, and beauty in the world they saw before them. This magazine is for them, for the divine beings who have inspired and created each generation of artists which succeeded them. To every woman artist who has ever been and may ever be, you are worshipped, you are revered, you are pretty brilliant.
