Aluminium
Architect Carlo Maria Morsiani designed a series of aluminium bookends based on the ten official cloud genera named and classified in 1803 by English meteorologist Luke Howard. The shapes of the bookends are modelled on Howard’s cloud symbols, on which the current pictograms in the International Cloud Atlas are based.
Select your preferred shape when ordering: Altocumulus (round) or Altostratus (angular).
‘Bookends invite you to rearrange your books, creating a small cabinet of curiosities on your shelf or in your bookcase: your most treasured exhibition catalogues, the finest books on clouds, or your entire collection on the colour blue.’ — Nicole Ex
Carlo Maria Morsiani (1985) studied architecture at Delft University of Technology and worked at, among others, MVRDV in Rotterdam and Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. After a few years he returned to Modena, where he took over his father's traditional woodworking business. Through Morsiani Elementi, he now designs and creates bespoke interiors, furniture and architectural elements for leading galleries, collectors and private clients. His work combines an architect's conceptual thinking with the precision and sensitivity of a master craftsman.
