From seed to linen
A course in growing, harvesting and spinning flax

Since 2018, The Linen Project has been exploring the possibilities of local textile production, with the aim of reviving small-scale linen making. During the 1m² flax (this is how much flax your seeds could produce) course, you will discover the entire process under the guidance of experts – from seed to thread, in 100 days. You will receive flax seeds to plant, practical newsletters with tutorials, and access to online webinars. Once harvested, you can process your flax at home using self-made tools or join a processing day at the LiBarn of The Linen Project in Duiven (near Arnhem), where all necessary equipment is available.

If you would like to take the process further and spin your flax into thread, you can optionally join a spinning course in Arnhem, Utrecht or Friesland. The result: your own linen thread, ready to be used – for instance, to weave your own tea towel.
