Rather than an isolated genius, Yves Klein (1928–1962) is presented as part of a vibrant artistic network. The museum displays Klein’s work alongside that of his father Frits Klein, his mother Marie Raymond, and his wife Rotraut Uecker, highlighting their shared fascination with colour and the cosmos.
Today, Yves Klein’s iconic monochrome paintings continue to exert a powerful global appeal, particularly his intensely blue monochromes that evoke the infinity and immateriality of space. However, his oeuvre encompasses much more, and the same is true of the relationship between his work and that of his parents and partner – each successful artists in their own right. For the first time in 65 years, around thirty works by Yves Klein and forty works by his family members are exhibited in the Netherlands.
