Vincent van Gogh spent a long time searching for his purpose in life. What gave him creative support? In Searching for Support, Beeldbrekers – young adult students and (young) professionals who use their expertise to make the museum more inclusive – share their perspective on this question through themes such as rituals, relationships and daily routine in Van Gogh’s art.

Van Gogh found support in painting itself, in the repeated act of making images. This idea runs like a thread through the exhibition. ‘Especially now that I am ill I try to create something to comfort myself,’ Vincent wrote to his brother Theo in 1889. Alongside the fourteen artworks by Vincent van Gogh, work by illustrator and designer Rossel Chaslie (1998) will also be on view. His new drawings connect with daily life in the city and touch on themes such as identity, rhythm and uncertainty.
