Art Prize De Scheffer 2026

During the opening of the exhibition De Scheffer 2026 at the Dordrechts Museum, the winner of the biennial Scheffer Prize was announced. The prize supports young artists and innovation in painting, and includes the acquisition of a work by the winner for the museum’s collection. This year, Faria van Creij-Callender received the prize.

The jury praised Van Creij-Callender’s work for the rich atmosphere it evokes: ‘It is a world full of possibilities. Her work presents a magical-realist mix of cultures. Particularly striking is her play with glimpses through open windows, mirrors and medallions.’ The work of Van Creij-Callender and the two other nominees, Ricardo van Eyk and Lorian Gwynn, can also be seen in the exhibition De Scheffer 2026.
