In Ketahanan: Stories of Resilience, Moluccans share their history in the Netherlands. The exhibition, featuring artworks, historical objects, photographs, and video stories, is created in collaboration with members of the Moluccan community. Ketahanan reveals the community’s diversity, underscores the importance of multiple voices, and shows how new generations are shaping the future.
The exhibition is structured around four themes: (de)colonization, diaspora, resilience, and the future. Together, they form a loosely chronological narrative. Rather than following a strict timeline, these themes act as building blocks for a clear beginning, middle, and end. This approach allows the story to unfold from sensitive and affecting subjects toward a more hopeful outlook. In doing so, it reflects both the core message and the community’s wish not only to acknowledge this complex history, but also to create space for resilience and the path forward.
