CODA Paper Art 2025

CODA

  • Address:

    Vosselmanstraat 299
    7311 CL Apeldoorn

The exhibition, featuring the work of 33 artists from the Netherlands and abroad, offers a captivating glimpse of current developments in the field of paper art. Sustainability, identity, migration, as well as the seemingly endless possibilities of both traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques – such as pairing origami and AI – are recurring themes in this fanciful survey.

With her spectacular work Stones of the Sky, Matea Bakula assigns new value to reused paper. At first glance, this rock-like formation, made from compressed photographic paper and pulp, appears to be sculpted from marble. With this piece, Bakula references marble quarrying, transforming paper – reimagined as precious marble – into something of altered value and meaning. Multi-disciplinary artist, akmar also incorporates reclaimed materials in her extraordinary work, Commercial Crosses. Having kept a diary for years, documenting consumer habits while collecting various forms of packaging, the result is a striking wall installation of cross-shaped pieces made from cardboard and gold leaf, now revealed at CODA Paper Art.
