Green safari through Amsterdam and lunch at @droog

On an expedition to nature in the center of Amsterdam? Crazy idea but we’re going to do it anyway. Because if you look closely, there are more than enough green gems to discover: hidden fairytale courtyard gardens, the whitest birch and the tallest tree in the capital. Beautiful facade stones and curious street names (Slijkstraat?) reveal the turbulent past of this neighborhood. Art won’t be missing either; artists like Monet and Rembrandt have immortalized this area.

Your guide is the gardening enthusiast and artist PJ Roggeband, known for the Uithuiltuin and the Ontroertoer. Along the way, he tells tasty stories and points out phenomena such as “pubic greenery” and “elm snow. Departing from Piet Oudolf’s newest garden at See All This (the Amsterdam Low Line), this green safari promises to be an exciting interplay of urban nature, history and art.

11:00 – 12:30: Green safari
12:30 pm: Lunch in the @droog café
