Weaving in the Wild
In October 2025, See All This invites you to the idyllic island of Mallorca for a six-day journey filled with art, nature and inspiring encounters. This special experience takes place at Palmyra Sculpture Centre and is focussed around hands-on creation: guided by artist Christin Amann, you’ll weave, craft, and explore using natural materials in workshops open to all skill levels.

Since 2021, See All This has been offering readers truly unique, themed journeys centred around art, craftsmanship, and nature. Each carefully curated trip takes travellers to meaningful destinations, where they not only discover remarkable places but also engage in thoughtful conversations – with artists and with one another. These encounters spark deeper understanding, fresh perspectives, and lasting memories.
This six-day retreat at Palmyra Sculpture Centre takes place from 15 to 20 October 2025. Places are limited to just 14 participants, so we recommend booking early. Discover some of the trip’s highlights below.
Palmyra Sculpture Centre
During your stay, you will be based at the Palmyra Sculpture Centre, where sculptures rise from the tall grass like deer in a meadow. The centre is set within rugged Mediterranean terrain, dotted with cacti, citrus groves, and ancient olive trees whose roots are so strong they pierce through stone. Nestled at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range, the landscape is shaped by dramatic rock formations that may obscure your view of the sea – but never the scent of its salty breeze. Founded by sculptor and curator Ien van Wierst, the Palmyra Sculpture Centre is a place where her deep love of sculpture and landscape come together in perfect harmony.
Weaving with Christin Amann
Throughout the trip, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in an ongoing weaving workshop guided by artist Christin Amann. Known for her experimental approach, sensitive use of colour, and commitment to natural materials, Christin creates striking woven pieces.
You’ll begin with a visit to her weaving studio in the nearby village of Alaró, where she will share her methods and help you select the natural materials you’ll be working with over the coming days. In addition, you can join a natural dyeing workshop, using traditional recipes and ingredients foraged from the surrounding landscape.
An open-air weaving studio will be set up at Palmyra for the duration of the workshop. Here, Christin will guide you through basic techniques and encourage experimentation with texture, colour, and material. You’ll work on a hand loom – no prior experience is necessary – and by the end of your stay, you’ll have created your own unique woven piece to take home.
Artist-in-residence: Julie van Riel
Twice a year, Ien van Wierst invites an artist to develop a project in nature at Palmyra. This season’s artist-in-residence is Julie van Riel, whose practice explores the alchemical transformation of natural materials. She works with plant-based dyes, mineral pigments, and raw fibres gathered from the Palmyra garden. With a focus on cycles of growth and decay, Julie encourages a slower pace – inviting you to observe and connect with the natural world.
Together with Christin Amann, she will welcome you to Palmyra’s open-air studio, where you’ll have the chance to experiment with natural elements alongside your weaving practice.
Each morning during your stay, you may choose to begin the day with a Qi Gong session or a short nature walk through the garden and surrounding landscape. These explorations are led by Anke Riesenkamp, nature writer for See All This and organiser of masterclasses at De Proeftuin.
A longer walk along the island’s wild and beautiful coastline is guided by Anke and herbalist Sophie Muuse, a close collaborator of Palmyra. Following in the footsteps of the many artists who have fallen in love with this place, they lead you through a landscape that is both rugged and poetic – a stretch of Mediterranean beauty still perfect for swimming in October.
Chef Ida Strandlund
Chef Ida Strandlund – originally from Sweden and now based in Mallorca – prepares all lunches and dinners during your stay at Palmyra. Her culinary style blends the vibrant flavours, colours, and textures of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Everything is fresh, vegetarian and predominantly local.
