The Best Dutch Book Designs 2024

Each year, the Stedelijk and the Best Dutch Book Designs Foundation present a selection of the most remarkable and carefully designed publications from the previous year. The submissions excel in content, design, lithography, typography, choice of materials, printing, and binding. Most of the selected books fall into the categories of art, photography, and architecture.

For the exhibition, designer Paul Kuipers created a modular furniture concept that adapts to the diversity of the displayed publications and to the space. The surface offers ample possibilities for arranging books in various ways, ensuring that each work – regardless of its size, shape, or mode of presentation – finds a fitting place within the layout. The result is a flexible system that supports the content without drawing attention to itself.
