In February, the King traditionally presents the Royal Award for Modern Painting. This year’s winners are Gideon van Gameren, Lorian Gwynn and Dion Rosina. Their work, along with that of 12 other nominees, is on display for a limited time at the Royal Palace.
During the 2025 Royal Award ceremony, the King said: ‘Today’s young artists demonstrate how vital painting is in 2025.’ The aim of the Award is to encourage young, talented painters and to provide them with a platform. It is regarded as an important stepping stone for emerging artists. The works of the participants reveal the talent of young artists who are renewing the centuries-old medium of painting with fresh ideas and diverse perspectives.
