Before the exhibition Open End opens, the enigmatic work of Lilian Kreutzberger (1984) will be exhibited. With her handmade objects that are combined with the latest technological developments, she reflects on the inevitable influence of digitalisation on our daily lives and poses the question: will physical experience still shape our lives and the world in the future, or will technology take over?

Kreutzberger plays with our perception by making two-dimensional works appear three-dimensional, or by creating a marble-like print on plaster. Her art is inspired by the skyscrapers of New York, such as the Seagram Building and the Time-Life Building, places that hover between private and public space. These parts of the city correspond to the digital realm, where our experiences are unconsciously shaped by our browsing behavior. Kreutzberger sees a connection between digital overstimulation and EMDR therapy, which inspired a collaborative work with author Lize Spit. On the EMDR sculpture, sentences partly written by Spit and partly generated by AI – create a tension between words and sensory associations for the viewer.
