Nude with Attitude

The beauty of the body surrounds us every day; its awkwardness, imperfections and deviations far less so. Nude with Attitude, with paintings, photography and performances from 1920 to the present, invites you to look beyond idealised images, with an eye for bodies in all shapes, sizes and colours.

Everyone has a relationship with the nude. Alongside our own bodies, we encounter many others every day: in advertisements, on social media and across other media. These images shape the kinds of bodies we have become accustomed to looking at. Anything that deviates from them, such as fat, ageing or changed bodies, can quickly provoke feelings of shame or discomfort. In Nude with Attitude, it is particularly female, feminist and queer artists who challenge this notion. For who is allowed to be seen, and who is not? The exhibition Nude with Attitude presents activist nudity in art. Here you will see bodies that fall outside the norm. Bodies that carry a message. Nude with Attitude invites you to look at this art with an open mind.
