Marlene Dumas: Cycladic Blues is Dumas’ first solo museum exhibition in Greece. The exhibition features more than forty paintings and drawings by Dumas, including new monumental works such as Old (2025) and Phantom Age (2025), created especially for the exhibition.

Dumas’ works are presented in dialogue with Cycladic and Hellenistic artefacts from the museum’s permanent collection, selected by the artist herself. These sometimes millennia-old objects typically depict an abstracted human form — a theme that runs like a thread through Dumas’ own work as well, along with the complexity of existence: birth, sex, ageing, and death.
Dumas: ‘These works have a timeless quality, as if freed from our human Prejudices.’
