Ma Yansong

While Fenix Museum of Migration opens in Rotterdam, at the Nieuwe Instituut you will discover the work of the Chinese architect who designed the striking tornado on Fenix’s roof. Ma Yansong (1975) is founder of MAD Architects and developed a design philosophy focused on the spiritual and emotional needs of residents, in his search for the balance between people, city and nature.

The exhibition offers an exploration of the work and philosophy of visionary architect Ma Yansong and the global practice he founded, MAD Architects. Founded in 2004 and led by Ma Yansong, Dang Qun and Yosuke Hayano, MAD Architects has transformed contemporary architecture by fostering deep connections between people, nature, and emotion.
