Haus of Fibre

Following an open call to the LGBTQ+ community, artists Nixie van Laere, Célio Braga, Chathuri Nissansala and Yamuna Forzani were invited to create an exhibition exploring the intertwining of textiles, identity and queerness.

Throughout history, textiles have been a material for the search for identity, community and resistance to dominant social norms. The title Haus of Fibre refers to the ballroom houses that emerged in New York in the 1970s, places where queer people could find alternative families. This exhibition takes the form of a house, where visitors can walk through the rooms and experience and discover the textile works in each space.
