Medicinal Plants with Leoniek Bontje

Knowledge of the healing properties of plants is as old as man himself. Yet we don’t often think about the wealth that surrounds us. This masterclass on October 13 opens your eyes to the medicinal plants that grow around us. In The Living Lab of Anke Riesenkamp, a surprising piece of polder between Amsterdam and Haarlem, you will learn everything about what plants can do for your health and make your own medicine from plants. All this under the direction of herbalist and author Leoniek Bontje.

We start the masterclass with a walk through De Proeftuin. Anke Riesenkamp, who developed De Proeftuin and writes about this in her section in See All This art magazine, talks about the beautiful processes that are initiated when you give agricultural land the space to naturalize. For example, more and more native and medicinal plants are appearing here.

Leoniek Bontje then talks about the nutritional values and medicinal properties of different plants. We make two plant medicines: a plant medicine based on apple cider vinegar, which is good for your immune system, and a macerate, in which plants are drawn in oil.
