Knowledge of the healing powers of plants has only partly survived the centuries. Yet relearning it is beautifully simple – nature’s apothecary is all around us.
This autumn, join our Garden Apothecary course at De Proeftuin and discover how plants can support everyday health and wellbeing. Beloved herbalist and author Leoniek Bontje, together with De Proeftuin founder Anke Riesenkamp, will guide you through the world of herbs that aid recovery, immunity, and daily ailments.
You’ll explore how plants nourish the body – from the nervous system and digestion to immunity and skin. Along the way, you’ll craft your own remedies: tinctures, salves and tisanes that form the foundation of your very own garden apothecary.
The Garden Apothecary course takes place on Saturday 11th October and Saturday 1st November from 10:00 to 16:00, including lunch from the garden. The course consists of one or two days, depending on your choice. The days complement each other and cover different bodily systems and the plants that correspond to them.
Day 1 – Saturday 11th October
Theme: the inner body. Focus on immunity and first aid. Make a tincture, oxymel, infusion and immune booster with herbs from De Proeftuin.
Day 2 – Saturday 1st November
Theme: the outer body. Focus on the skin, hair and nails. Create an oil, an ointment, and a natural first-aid spray for wound care.
Maximum 10 participants.
