The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is an international institute dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design. It’s one of the three large museums at the Museum square in Amsterdam. The collection comprises painting, sculpture, photography, film– and video art, installations, works on paper, artist books, applied art and industrial and graphic design. The Stedelijk’s permanent collection display is frequently changed, in order to show the audience as much as possible. The museum is typified by the various permanent exhibitions that are constantly on view, alongside the permanent collection. The art works that are on display in the museum vary from great Dutch modern artists, like Piet Mondriaan, Gerrit Rietveld and Rineke Dijkstra, to international work by Kazimir Malevich, Joan Jonas and Barnett Newman.
