The finest ceramics are collected at Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in Leeuwarden. The museum holds the largest and most varied collection of Chinese porcelain in the Netherlands and shows a rich and multifaceted picture of Dutch Art Nouveau and Art Deco ceramics from the period 1880-1930. The collection has some absolute highlights such as the internationally renowned Ming collection and ceramic art by national and international artists such as Karel Appel, Lucebert, Picasso and Armando. Besides the wonderful permanent presentations of the museum’s collection, the museum organises high-profile exhibitions.
The museum is housed in the 18th-century city palace of Maria Louise van Hessen-Kassel, princess of Orange Nassau, ancestor of our current king.
