For the presentation Ik neem je mee, refugees chose objects that have a special meaning to them. From the perspective of people who’ve had to leave everything behind, this presentation makes us think about the value of both personal belongings and museological objects.
The presentation is part of the project Ongekend Bijzonder, that collects stories of refugees and makes them accessible to the general public. To this end, the Centraal Museum has been collaborating with the Foundation for the Promotion of Social Participation (BMP).
Edwin Jacobs, director of the Centraal Museum: Like the Centraal Museum, “Ongekend Bijzonder” wants to be attuned to current events and aims to offer a realistic representation of the world: diverse, polyphonous and layered.”
