Handwerk Part 2: Wood

Zeeuws Museum | 11/06/2016 - 15/06/2017

The Zeeuws Museum opens a new presentation within the perennial project HANDWERK (handicraft) in which the focus lies on wood. Starring chair maker Caspar Labarre, Historical Shipyard C.A. Meerman and students from Het Goese Lyceum.

Labarre uses wood from a tree that he chops down, splits and cuts with his own hands. A remarkable way of working in a world that evolves around quick and industrialized production. HANDWERK unites him with the shipwright Cees Droste, employed by de Meerman shipyard in Arnemuiden and a master in age-old sealing techniques.

Together, they teach their techniques and a new way of working to VMBO students from the Building, Living & Interior department of Het Goese Lyceum.
