Living in the Amsterdam School

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam | 09/04/2016 - 28/08/2016

The Amsterdam School (1910-1930) is an expressive movement in Dutch architecture, that originated in Amsterdam. The movement encompassed not only architecture, but also designs for furniture and elements of interiors. The expressive shapes and colours were unique in the Netherlands and internationally influential too.

Living in the Amsterdam School provides an overview of the Amsterdam School’s interior designs: furniture, lamps, clocks, ceramics, textile and graphic design applied to wallpaper. The exhibition comprises over 500 designs by for example Jaap Gidding, Michel de Klerk, Piet Kramer, Hildo Krop and Marie Kuyken.
